Count It All Joy: Grace's Story

As we walk with women through every moment of their lives, we get to be a part of seeing them experience joy in their lives, despite going through difficulties. You get to be a part of empowering women and inspiring change.

Grace experienced much transition and turmoil in her life, starting from a very young age.  Grace was the first daughter of her mother, but the seventh child of her father. Her family was large--she has sixteen siblings! She attended preschool while living with her parents, but she was sent to live with her aunt for primary one. She was there for several years, but then moved back to her parents' home to finish primary school there. Moving schools and homes that many times at such a young age is difficult physically, but also emotionally as she had to adjust to different caretakers, family members, teachers, and make new friends.

She continued on in secondary school, but her father's heath began deteriorating, and he could no longer afford to pay her school fees. So, Grace looked for a job. Her first job was as a book binder, but after a short time her father's health worsened, and Grace was concerned. She made the decision to leave her job and care for her father. Being a caretaker is mentally, emotionally, and spiritually exhausting, but Grace was persistently joyful in everything she did.

In 2017, her father was well enough for her to return to work, and she began working as a hospital receptionist. However, in 2019 she found Heal. She had never experienced the kind of joyful, exuberant worship that happens every week at the James Place, and it filled her with such love and peace to worship God with her coworkers. Grace serves as a preschool teaching assistant in our top class. Being in an environment where worship and dedication to God is the most important, she has grown so much in her faith. She is consistently filled with joy and brings life and light into every room she walks into. Her work allows teachers more time to work on complex instructions and help individuals succeed. She loves morning devotions, but most of all she loves singing and dancing with the children during their physical education class. Coming to Heal has taught her to walk in joy in any circumstance, and we are so proud of her growth as a woman of God!
